She began by reading a book she wrote and other poems that are meaningful to her.
We worked with a piece of art work to inspire us. Ms. Hoopes had the childern imagine what they might hear, what time of day is represented in the piece , and to think about what the objects are "doing" in the piece.
The students brainstormed their thoughts on the side of the paper.
Then they drew a wavy string down the center of the paper and added "beads" for where they would like to place their words. They used their list to help with the organiztion of the "beads."
The children were very productive. Ask them to share the process of their work with you!
