Animal Research Project

In connection with our exciting journey to the Southwick Zoo on May 13th. We have decided to end the year with a Project. The children are in the process of choosing a Zoo animal to study and become an expert on. We will share our findings before our Zoo trip!

The students have brainstormed 6 Topics!

All the students will answer the same questions:

1. What is the name of the animal?

2. Where do they live or What is their habitat like?

3. What do they eat?

4. What do they look like? (color, size) (do they swim, fly, ect)

5. What species are they?

6. An interesting Fact?

We discussed a variety of ways that they can gather information and how they will present it to the class.

Gather Information:

Computer

Cameras

Magazines/newspaper

Books

Video

Speakers

How to present their information:

Write facts down

Use pictures (drawn or photos)

Make sculptures (clay, wire, recyclables)

Use materials

Make posters

Display board

Create origami animals

Take Videos

2D or 3D or both

Over the weekend please ask your child what animal they are interested in. Ask them how they are thinking of designing their presentation. Get their ideas growing! We plan to do most of the work in class but if they want to bring the excitement home please create and share new facts!
